We will miss your lovely face and elegant perfume modeling, dear Emperor. RIP.
ReplyDeleteThank you, pitbull friend. I know that you have gone through all of this so many times with the work that you do. You are obviously a very strong woman.
DeleteSincerely,
sherapop
Dear Sherapop,
ReplyDeleteI just saw this sad news (about darling Oliver) on Parfumo's Home page. Having lost beloved pets myself (Pets? No! Family members & Dear friends!) I feel your pain and hope you can find comfort in the knowledge that he knew he was loved.
My heartfelt condolences,
LadyRogue
Thank you for your kind words, LadyRogue.
DeleteI am still in something of a state of shock, as HRH Emperor Oliver felt fine on September 11, 2013, with his usual vim and verve and joie de vivre. Five days later he was gone. He suffered an unbelievable vortex of deteriorating health and actually looked like Ingrid Bergman in Notorious after a few doses of the "special" coffee.
The doctor wasn't sure what had happened, but she was sure that his days were numbered, whatever the diagnosis ended up being. Even ascertaining what was wrong, putting him through a slew of invasive tests at the hospital, probably would have finished him off. A couple of possibilities were renal failure or abdominal lymphoma, but it all happened so abruptly, that I was not fully prepared. With diabetics (as he was), once one thing goes wrong, then there tends to be a cascade of other problems because everything is thrown out of equilibrium.
Thank you again for your kindness. Yes, HRH Emperor Oliver was a person in the fullest sense of that word.
fondly,
sherapop
Dear Sherapop,
ReplyDeleteI am deeply sorry for your loss. I reallly enjoy your blog (perhaps also because I studied philosophy?) and I had a big crush on Oliver, having five cats myself. I know the pain you are going through and I hope for you that you will find the strength in your loving memories. He had the perfect home and he loved you - the photos showed it.
My sincere condolences,
Ulrike.
Thank you, Ulrike, for your kind sentiments and for revealing your secret crush on HRH Emperor Oliver. I'm sure that you're not alone. We will all miss him.
DeleteWith much appreciation,
sherapop
Hello, after reading some of your reviews I thought I would come and visit.
ReplyDeleteMy heart always breaks when I hear of someone losing their furchild, even if I barely know them. I'm sorry for your loss. I agree that keeping him close and happy was a good choice, a barrage of tests that may or may not have been helpful would have just upset him. I'm glad you were able to comfort him, it's a solace many of us don't experience.
Glenn Gould's version of Aria is my favourite. If you listen closely you can hear him singing along.
Hello Sherapop,
ReplyDeleteYour loss saddened me. HRH Emperor Oliver spent beautiful moments with you and a loving life, and you shared him with your readers. Thank you. Our special friends ask so little from us yet give us unconditional love constantly. He is frolicking and chasing butterflies now, stopping every now and then to send you a cat kiss. You know, those little staring blinks they give us to tell us how much we mean to them. What a wonderful tribute with his photo, and also, how you took care of him in his last moments. That is the signature of love.
My sincere condolences.
